Obligatory "About Me" Blurb
Michelle Dancer is actually not her real name, yet, though it will be just as soon as they can get round to arranging the wedding. Michelle is kind of tempted to continue writing about herself in third person, but will try to resist.
Since early 2007, when I found myself in dire need of a site, I have devoted my spare time to freelance webby work. Not just web design, not just web development, but a combination of everything I could get my hands on. With some experience under my belt, recently I decided it was time to branch out by actually getting together a personal portfolio site. Nice, isn’t it? Very green.
The world of £15,000 websites for huge companies and the like never really attracted me, I prefer to work on smaller projects for more down-to-earth people. Small companies and individuals, artists and online groups, those who think they could never afford a professional service will hopefully find my prices reasonable and my standard of work surprising. I love what I do and hope to do my part in ridding the internet of those “homemade”, luridly flashing sites that are still all too popular.
Holed up in a cosy flat in Newcastle upon Tyne with my man and a washing machine that sounds like a barking dog, I have two puppies, Kat and Sparrow, and a sand-filled gecko named Clive.
The Specifics
Most often I can be found working with Wordpress. I’ve used and modified a number of popular premium themes as well as building custom themes and plugins from scratch. Wordpress isn’t the only CMS I enjoy working with, however. Drupal and CMS Made Simple are among my favourites, and I’m also experienced with various ecommerce, forum and gallery scripts.
If you’re looking for something custom-built, don’t worry. I love to code from scratch and am comfortable with a range of disciplines from basic PHP and jQuery through to Google Maps and Twitter integrations.
Feel free to get in touch for an informal chat.
